I’m the Global Arts & Ethnomusicology Coordinator at SIL Global, where I lead a team of arts consultants worldwide and help communities, churches, and Bible translation teams explore how their own musical and artistic traditions can be used for meaningful communication of important messages. I also serve as Adjunct Faculty at Dallas International University, training the next generation of ethnodoxologists and arts consultants.
I have a Ph.D. in World Arts, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance, and 17 years of living and working in Indonesia with Wycliffe and SIL.
It’s a long story how a french horn player gigging with orchestras in the Houston area, ended up in Indonesia, but the short version is that in a remote Indonesian village, I encountered people worshipping the same God as me, in a completely different musical language. It changed the direction of my life and career.
